There is a sense of family, hard work and honesty around Poindexter Excavating, Inc. It has been there from the beginning, with 15 employees, and it is there today in a company that has over 300 employees.
Billy Poindexter incorporated Poindexter Excavating in 1979 with a business card listing his name and home phone number – the quality of his work was all the advertising he needed. Poindexter Excavating, Inc. experienced regular, steady growth in its early years. In the late 1980's several large jobs, including one that involved more than a million cubic yards of earth moving, pushed Poindexter to a new level. Through the 90's, Poindexter continued to grow, add more equipment and hire more employees. While today, we are handling more than 85 projects each year involving millions of cubic yards of earth packed and hauled; making Poindexter, one of the largest excavating firms in Indiana.
Poindexter Excavating, Inc. has been a union shop from day one and is proud to continue that tradition of excellence and quality today. The pride, work ethic, and integrity that Billy Poindexter used to start the company are evident in every aspect of Poindexter Excavating, Inc. today. Those values have created a company that is Central Indiana’s leader in land development.
Poindexter brings a fleet of modern, well-maintained equipment to each of our projects. Poindexter maintains close to 300 pieces of equipment, many of which include the latest technological enhancements such as GPS machine-control and laser augmentation grading systems as well as Trimble Total Station technology for pinpoint accuracy. Not only do we utilize Trimble and AccuGrade technology, we also have the ability to create our own 3D models with Agtek and do our own formatting conversions in-house with Trimble Business Center. This technology helps us work faster, more productively, and at a lower operating cost.
We have a state-of-the-art, 28,000 square foot maintenance facility to keep our fleet in top condition. Our maintenance staff handles minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and total rebuilds when required. Our focus on maintenance allows us to tackle the large-scale earthwork projects that other companies simply cannot handle. Having well-maintained fleet of equipment allows us to complete any size project efficiently, on time, and within budget – resulting in cost and time savings for our clients.
